A.S.Hornby Educational Trust Scholarships 2017 for study in the UK

The Trust was set up by A.S.Hornby in 1961 to support English language teaching worldwide. A.S.Hornby had a distinguished career in English language teaching and developed the Oxford Advanced Learners’ Dictionary, which is still published in its 8th edition by Oxford University Press. The Trust is a registered charity in the UK. The Trust has supported over 500 scholars in the last 20 years.
The recruitment process for the A.S.Hornby Educational Trust scholarships for study in the UK between October 2017 and September 2018 is now open for applications.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Eligible applicants for the scholarship award must have at least two years’ full-time ELT experience and a full university degree, and must be a citizen of the country from which they apply.
- Warwick University also requires a currently valid IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in any of the categories.
- The Hornby Scholarships are intended to support experienced English language teachers who have the potential to make a significant future contribution to English language teaching and teachers in their countries.
Scholarship Worth:
- The scholarships fund study on the one-year Masters in ELT at the University of Warwick.
- The scholarships cover all the costs in the UK including a monthly stipend to cover accommodation and living expenses, tuition fees, and return air tickets, tuition fees, visa and IELTS test costs.
- Your monthly stipend is sufficient to cover your expenses in the UK but will not provide for any expenses you may still have at home during the year.
- Before you decide to apply, you need to be sure that you will be able to obtain leave-of-absence from your employer for the period of the scholarship and that you have funds during the year to cover any home expenses.
The Applicant Selection Process:
Applicants are selected by a four-stage process:
1. Online application form – applicants submit the online application form for initial assessment
2. Interview – applicants who are successful at stage 1 are invited for interview at the British Council office in their country of origin
3. Application to university –applicants selected from the interview are invited to apply to the university for consideration
4. University acceptance – the scholarship award is confirmed with the applicant and arrangements are made to arrive in the UK to begin study by 1st October 2017

Erasmus International Credit Mobility Scholarships For 27 Countries
Erasmus International Credit Mobility Scholarships programme is open which allows UMinho to receive/send students, teaching and non-teaching staff from/to 27 partner countries outside Europe. These scholarships are available for students as well as teaching and non-teaching staff of UMinho and partner universities.
The aim of the scholarships is to provide opportunities for more than 4 million Europeans to study, train and gain work experience and perform volunteer work abroad, supporting cooperation and the development of partnerships between European institutions and other parts of the world.
The International Credit Mobility (ICM) is part of the Key Action 1 of the Erasmus+ Programme and allows a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in a partner country to send students, teaching and non-teaching staff into studying, teaching and training missions to an HEI in a Program country and vice versa.
Course Level: These scholarships are available for students and teaching and non-teaching staff.
Study Subject: These scholarships are awarded in the fields offered by the university.
Scholarship Award: These scholarships will cover the followings:
- Stay Allowance
- Students mobility (SMS) Mobility periods: 5 months From UMinho to the partner countries: 650 EUR/month From the partner countries to UMinho: 800 EUR/month
- Staff mobility (STA / STT) Mobility periods: 5 days + 2 travel days. The per diem amount: From UMinho to the partner countries: 160 EUR/day From the partner countries to UMinho: 120 EUR/day

Number of Scholarships: UMOVE (ME) has a total of 189 scholarships:
- 53 scholarships for students from partner countries to study at UMinho (SMS IN);
- 12 scholarships for students from UMinho to carry out a mobility period at HEIs in partner countries (SMS OUT);
- 44 grants for teaching staff from partner countries to teach at UMinho (STA IN);
- 25 grants for teaching staff from UMinho to teach at HEIs in partner countries (STA OUT);
- 34 grants for non-teaching staff from partner countries to carry out training missions at UMinho (STT IN);
- 21 grants for non-teaching staff from UMinho to carry out training missions at HEIs from partner countries (STT OUT
Scholarship can be taken at UMinho or the partner Higher Education institutions.
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Students must be enrolled at UMinho or in a partner Institution of Higher Education and enrolled in a level of studies leading to a recognized degree or a tertiary level of recognized qualification.
- For Undergraduate and Integrated Master Studies: students must be enrolled at least in the second year of their higher studies to be eligible to undertake a period of mobility.
- For Master Studies: students must have completed at least one semester at the institution of origin before completing a period of mobility.
- For Doctorate Studies: students must have completed at least one year of studies and already have a research project.
- Teaching and non-teaching Staff: must have a contractual relationship with UMinho or a partner institution in order to be eligible to apply for a scholarship.

College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: Applicants must be students of UMinho or the partner Higher Education institutions are entitled to apply as long as they are registered and enrolled in a course from the first, second or third cycle of studies

William P. Heidrich Research Fellowships for Foreign Nationals in USA, 2018
The University of Michigan Library’s Special Collections Library is delighted to offer William P. Heidrich Research Fellowships to study in the USA. The US, as well as foreign nationals, are eligible to apply for this fellowship program.
The University of Michigan mission is to support, enhance, and collaborate in the instructional, research, and service activities of the faculty, students, and staff, and contribute to the common good by collecting, organizing, preserving, communicating, and sharing the record of human knowledge.
Course Level: Fellowships are available to pursue research.
Study Subject: Applications for support for all types of research projects — academic, creative, journalistic, etc. — will be considered, and no specific credentials are required.
Scholarship Award: The fellowships will provide funds for travel and housing for on-site research on any topic that is supported by the Labadie Collection. The amount of funding awarded will be based on the individual needs of the recipient(s).

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:
- United States citizens and foreign nationals are eligible to apply. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. There are no academic requirements.
Nationality: The US, as well as foreign nationals, are eligible to apply for this fellowship program.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
How to Apply: Application Components
- Project proposal (500 words or fewer) describing the research topic and why Labadie Collection materials are central to the work. Please be as specific as possible.
- Budget of time needed and travel expenses (make note of regular closings)

60 Dissertation Fellowships at University of Texas in USA, 2018-2019
The Harry Ransom Center invites applications for its 2018–2019 research fellowships. The fellowships support projects that require substantial on-site use of its collections in all areas of the humanities, including literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music, and cultural history.
Course Level: Fellowships are available to undertake research project at the University of Texas at Austin.
Study Subject(s): The fellowships support research in all areas of the humanities, including literature, photography, film, art, the performing arts, music, and cultural history.
Scholarship Award: The available fellowships include:
- One to three month fellowships $3,500 per month (Domestic) and $4,000 per month (International): One- to three-month fellowships are available for post-doctoral or independent scholars whose projects require extensive work with the Ransom Center’s collections.
- Travel Stipends $2,000 (Domestic) and $2,500 (International): Travel stipends are available for post-doctoral or independent scholars whose projects require less than one month’s work with the Center’s collections. Travel stipends may not be combined with other Ransom Center fellowships.
- Dissertation Fellowships $2,000 (Domestic) and $2,500 (International):Dissertation fellowships, generously supported by the Creekmore and Adele Fath Charitable Foundation and The University of Texas at Austin Office of Graduate Studies, are available for graduate students whose doctoral dissertations require use of the Center’s collections.
Number of Scholarships: For its 2018–2019 fellowship program, the Ransom Center will award 10 dissertation fellowships and up to 50 postdoctoral fellowships for projects that require substantial on-site use of its collections.
Scholarship can be taken in the USA
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- The fellowships are open to scholars of any nationality.
- Previous recipients of Ransom Center fellowships are eligible to reapply after two full fellowship cycles have passed.
- One- to three-month fellowships and travel stipends are open to scholars with a Ph.D. or with a substantial record of professional achievement, demonstrated on their curriculum vitae. If the Ph.D. is in-progress at the time of application, the proposal and letters of recommendation must clearly indicate completion by June 1, 2018. Successful applicants must complete the Ph.D. by this date in order to accept the fellowship.
- Dissertation fellowships are open to doctoral candidates engaged in dissertation research by the time of application.
Nationality: The fellowships are open to scholars of any nationality.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have previous degree.
Test Requirement: No
English Language Requirement: All international applicants for whom English is not the native tongue must provide proof of competence in the English language.
How to Apply: The proposal and required letter(s) of recommendation for 2018–2019 fellowship applications must be submitted through the Center’s online application system. A complete application consists of a three-page proposal and one or two letters of recommendation as outlined below. These materials must be uploaded to the Ransom Center’s online application system as PDF files by the application deadline. To begin your application for a 2018–2019 fellowship, create a fellowship account. Upon successful creation of your account, you will receive a fellowship account number, which you must use to submit your proposal, and which your referee(s) must use to submit the required letter(s) of recommendation. Please note that information cannot be revised once submitted. Previous applicants for Ransom Center fellowships must create a new account for 2018–2019, as accounts from previous applications cannot be reused.
