SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $2,600.00/month to $3,955.00/month. PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary will be $2,600/month.

California State University, East Bay’s beautiful main campus is located in the Hayward hills with panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay shoreline. ABOUT THE POSITION:

CSUEB maintains three (3) campuses, Hayward, Oakland Center and Concord and may provide custodial services 24/7 for these locations. CSUEB invites applicants to apply for the following shifts.

Current work shifts available for this recruitment are on the Hayward Campus for:

One (1) swing shift (Friday through Tuesday; 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.)
One (1) swing shift (Monday through Friday; 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.)
Two (2) day shifts (Thursday through Monday; 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

Depending on operational needs, incumbent(s) may be assigned to alternate work shifts and/or one of the three campuses identified above.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Department provides general maintenance cleaning services for the campus. Work assignments typically include cleaning and maintaining assigned areas including such activities as cleaning and dusting all surfaces, removing trash and recyclables, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and replenishing supplies; cleaning glass doors and windows, and blinds; cleaning stairwells, walkways and elevators, and performing general housekeeping; clean and maintain floors including sweeping, dry and/or wet mopping; stripping, sealing, waxing, and polishing floors, vacuuming, spot and full cleaning of carpets. The custodial department also assists with special event set-up/takedown and minor furniture moving projects. The department is tasked securing buildings and equipment from unauthorized entry and usage. The University operates out of three locations; Hayward; Oakland center; Concord. We operate 24/7 round the clock shifts in some capacity. All incumbents must understand they may be assigned to other shifts or campus as dictated by operational need.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position and follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; observe safety requirements and use safe work practices and methods as requires; operate and care for custodial supplies and equipment; lift or assist in lifting heavy objects using equipment. May use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two way radios for communication. Perform work involving regular physical activity. Incumbent(s) must be able to lift 25 pounds or more on a regular basis. Basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning equipment includes high speed buffers, carpet extractors, safety equipment, etc. Maintain substantial cooperative work relationships. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse student, faculty, staff and community populations is essential. Must possess and maintain through employment, a valid California Driver’s License and will be required to obtain a State of California Defensive Driving Permit.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

One (1) year experience in custodial maintenance desirable.
