Description
The Student Organisation (SO) Section of OSA supervises 14 constituent bodies (including the NUSSU executive committee and standing committees), 42 registered NUS student societies, and 17 NUS interest groups. Our main roles include providing oversight in terms of compliance with university guidelines and national laws, providing the necessary training opportunities to enable student leaders to carry out their roles and responsibilities, and advising students on their events and projects. Much of these come in the form of training camps, face-to-face workshops, and regular counselling sessions with the student leaders. In addition, the SO section also oversees the Freshmen Orientation, Student Life Awards, and the NUSync (the CCA management system).
The successful candidate will be overseeing the following areas & student groups:
a. N USSU international Relations Committee, The Ridge and Global Relations Committee.
b. Staff Advisor to the NUS Political Association, the NUS Chinese & English Debating Team.
c. Assist the Staff Advisors to guide Law Club, Medical Club, Design & Environment Club, Dental Club and University Scholars Club.
d. Assist the Staff Advisors to guide the Dental Society & Medical Society.
In particular, the focus on these student groups will be in the following areas:
a. Advise and mentor student groups on the organization of their event
b. E nsure compliance to all relevant guidelines and policies when organizing events on campus
c. Ensure proper budgeting, prudent spending and financial compliance
d. Ensure proper handover between outgoing and incoming student leaders
e. Approving and reviewing event proposal on NUSync
f. Ensure that student orgs use NUSync
g. Conduct NUSync trainings for Student Orgs
The successful candidate will also take a leading role in the governance of Student Interest Groups and be responsible for conducting training workshops for new office bearers as well as orientation leaders, the revamp and review of the Student Organizations section on OSA’s website and be involved in the planning and execution of the Student Life Awards.
Qualifications
a. Bachelor Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the area of managing student groups.
b. Experience/skills in conducting training.
c. Experience/skills in events management.
d. Proficient in MS Office and relevant software.
e. Proficient in HTML a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
