In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme ISSER Ghana • DAAD

Who can apply?

Applicants

  • have successfully completed generally a three-year university degree (Master candidates) or a two-year university degree (doctoral candidates) with above average results (upper forth of class)
  • clearly show motivation and strong commitment
  • have thorough knowledge of the language of instruction
  • have completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application
  • must be nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Saharan African country

  • should generally be a) staff member of a public or private university, b) candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment, c) from the public sector or d) DAFI-Alumni (Albert Einstein German Academic Refugee Initiative)

Selection

The application process contains two steps.

First step:
Applicants must apply for their studies at ISSER using the contacts and the method that is prescribed by the institution. ISSER has set their own deadlines.

ISSER will screen, pre-select (according to DAAD selection criteria) and short-list the applicants. A detailed report consisting of the shortlisting procedure, the entire list of applicants, the ranked shortlist and the shortlisting panel members will also be availed to DAAD. The ranked shortlist will contain at least double or triple (optional) the number of scholarships that have been attributed to the institution.

DAAD reserves the right of final selection.

Second step:
Pre-selected candidates are asked to log into the DAAD portal and register themselves and submit an DAAD application. The institution is requested to communicate the following information to the shortlisted candidates:

1. Register online via the DAAD-Portal (if not already registered):https://portal.daad.de

2. Apply online via the DAAD-Portal under the tab “Personal Funding“/ “Application“

Application Procedure
Application documents

Documents to be submitted:

  • DAAD application form duly filled (available in the DAAD-Portal)
  • Hand signed curriculum vitae (please use the european specimen form at http://europass.cedefop. Europa.eu), including a list of publications (if applicable).
  • Recommendation letter by university lecturers (2 for PhD)
  • Letter of admission or any other binding document guaranteeing admission to the host university / institution / network
  • Certified copies of university degree certificates including transcripts
  • Letter of motivation (if applicable: mentioning the planned research stay in Germany, see “Additional benefits”)
  • Copy of the passport

PhD candidates have to submit the following additional documents:

  • Declaration of acceptance from the academic supervisor
  • Detailed and precise PhD proposal, including detailed work and time table (if applicable: mentioning the planned research stay in Germany, see “Additional benefits”)
  • Abstract of the proposal on one page (please include name and title of proposal

AUSSCHREIBUNG VON ACHT DOKTORANDENSTIPENDIEN

(Altertumswissenschaften und angrenzende Disziplinen)

Die Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS) schreibt mit Förderung durch das Einstein-Zentrum „Chronoi – Time and Awareness of Time in Ancient Societies“ und zum 01. Januar 2019 (Wintersemester 2018/2019) an der Freien Universität Berlin und der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin 8 Doktorandenstipendien aus.

Die Annahme eines Stipendiums ist mit der Aufnahme in eines der fünf Promotionsprogramme der BerGSAS verbunden. Jedem Programm liegt ein strukturiertes Curriculum zugrunde.

Die Promotionsprogramme der BerGSAS sind:

  •  Ancient Languages and Texts
  •  Ancient Objects and Visual Studies
  •  Ancient Philosophy and History of Ancient Science
  •  Landscape Archaeology and Architecture
  •  Languages and Cultures of the Silk Road

Die Bewerberinnen und Bewerber sollen einen sehr guten Universitätsabschluss (Master oder vergleichbarer Abschluss) in einem altertumswissenschaftlichen Fach oder einer angrenzenden Disziplin vorweisen können. Die Stipendien sind thematisch nicht gebunden; Promotionsvorhaben mit einem Bezug zum Thema des Einstein-Zentrums (Time and Awareness of Time in Ancient Societies) sind durchaus willkommen. Jedes Doktorandenstipendium ist mit € 1.365 monatlich dotiert und wird für zwei Jahre mit einer Verlängerungsoption für ein drittes Jahr nach positiver Evaluation gewährt.

Von den Bewerberinnen und Bewerbern wird erwartet, dass sie sich über die Zulassungsvoraussetzungen im gewünschten Promotionsfach informiert haben. Die vorherige Kontaktaufnahme mit dem Hochschullehrer/der Hochschullehrerin, der/die als Betreuer/Betreuerin der Dissertation gewünscht wird, ist notwendig.

In-Region Scholarship Programme – APFP • DAAD

As part of the „In Country / In-Region Scholarship Progamme“, the DAAD offers scholarships for Master studies. The programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and aims at university staff in the first line, without neglecting the public sector demand of academically trained personnel.

Who can apply?

Applicants

  • have successfully completed generally a three-year university degree (Master candidates) or a two-year university degree (doctoral candidates) with above average results (upper forth of class)
  • clearly show motivation and strong commitment
  • have thorough knowledge of the language of instruction
  • have completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application
  • must be nationals or permanent residents of a Sub-Saharan African country excluding South Africa
  • should generally be a) staff member of a public or private university, b) candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment, c) from the public sector

Female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the programme.

What can be funded?

The scholarships at APFP are available in the following field:

The duration of the Master Programme is one year and can be extended to upon receipt of an application for extension

Application Procedure

The application process contains two steps.

First step:
Applicants must apply for their studies at APFP using the contacts and the method that is prescribed by the institution. APFP has set its own deadlines.
APFP will screen, pre-select (according to DAAD selection criteria) and short-list the applicants. A detailed report consisting of the shortlisting procedure, the entire list of applicants, the ranked shortlist and the shortlisting panel members will also be availed to DAAD. The ranked shortlist will contain at least double or triple (optional) the number of scholarships that have been attributed to the institution.
DAAD reserves the right of final selection.

APFP will provide the shortlisted candidates with the link to the DAAD-Portal. Only the pre-selected candidates are asked to log into the DAAD portal and register themselves and submit an DAAD application.
