PHD POSITION WITHIN THE THRIVE BY THREE PROJECT.

The Department of Communication and Culture at the Norwegian Business School is pleased to announce a four-year PhD position connected to the project Thrive by Three: A model of intervention and implementation of quality-building and quality-control in childcare centers to strengthen communication norms, mental health and development in 1-3 year olds.

Thrive by Three is funded through the The Research Council of Norway (BedreHelse) and is carried out in collaboration with Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (RBUP East/South) and The National Network for Infant Mental Health in Oslo, Regional Centre for Child and Youth Mental Health and Child Welfare – Central Norway (RKBU) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

The candidate will be part of the Educational Research team at BI Nydalen on a daily basis, but will complete their PhD program courses as an externally funded candidate at a Norwegian University. It is a prerequisite for the employment, that the candidate will be admitted to a PhD-programme.

The PhD candidate will specifically work with and evaluate the effect of the Thrive by Three intervention. In the Thrive by Three intervention, caregivers learn research-based knowledge on communication and children’s needs, and how to strengthen healthy development and well-being, in monthly supervisions and training tasks. Additionally, secondary aim is to examine organizations and the manager’s readiness to change and how it affects the results of the intervention.

The Department of Communication and Culture where the candidate will be working on a daily basis is currently home to about 34 faculty and 4 PhD students. The Department is highly international (currently including 9 nationalities) with Scholars who collaborate with some of the world’s best business schools (St. Gallen, Berkeley, Oxford, CBS, Stanford, Erasmus, among others). The department hosts research groups within Education, Internet and Society, Corporate Communication and Creative Industries. The recruitment of a new PhD is an important element of the department’s research agenda, as part of our goal to meet BI’s vision of being one of the leading business schools in Europe. The four-year PhD programme is designed for a talented candidate who wishes to pursue an international career within academia and who can contribute on the international arena with their research and publications. This is in keeping with the school’s vision of being one of the leading research business schools in Europe.

Applicants for this open PhD position must have completed a two-year (120 ECTS) Master’s Degree with thesis work (Master of Science) by September 2017 to be considered for a PhD scholarship. An average grade of B or better is required.

There is required that the candidate will contribute to implement the intervention and gather observational data from the centers. It is therefore desired that the candidate should have knowledge about the Norwegian childcare system, practice experience with toddler’s and interested in working with quantitative method. Further the candidate needs to speak and write both Norwegian (Swedish or Danish) and English.

The four-year scholarships are currently NOK 477 600, – per year. The positions provide for automatic membership in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund (Statens Pensjonskasse). The scholarships require 25% teaching or research assistant responsibilities.

PhD Scholarship in Political Science – Energy Transitions

The University of Stavanger invites applications for a PhD Scholarships in Political Science – Energy Transitions at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Media and Social Sciences.

This is a trainee position that mainly aims to give promising researchers an opportunity for professional development leading to a doctoral degree. The resulting PhD degree will qualify for research and teaching positions at University level.

The PhD scholars will be appointed for three years, starting April 1st. 2018.

The PhD position is funded by the EU-financed Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network, “ENSYSTRA – Energy Systems in Transition”. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions ensure excellent and innovative research training as well as attractive career and knowledge-exchange opportunities through cross-border and cross-sector mobility of researchers, to better prepare them for current and future societal challenges. The Innovative Training Networks scheme aims to train a new generation of creative, entrepreneurial and innovative early-stage researchers.

As the programme aims to promote cross-border mobility, a condition for eligibility to the scholarship is that the candidate must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in Norway for more than 12 months of the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date. Short stays, such as holidays, are not taken into account. Furthermore, candidates must be in the first four years of their research careers and cannot hold a doctoral degree

The ENSYSTRA project comprises 15 PhD positions with 6 different partners in six European countries.

The University of Stavanger Business School is currently inviting applications for a new doctoral scholarship in marketing. Appointment is for four years with research and 25% compulsory duties. While the PhD project will accommodate the appointee’s research interests and qualifications, the topic of the project will be Marketing Innovation-Platforms.

Firms are increasingly collaborating with large numbers of outside parties (customers, suppliers, complementors, etc.) in their innovation activities.
