Post-doctoral Fellowships

2 YEAR POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR ACADEMIC YEARS 2019-21 (SEPTEMBER 2019 TO AUGUST 2021)

The Centre for International Law (CIL) was established in 2009 at the National University of Singapore in response to the growing need for international law expertise, capacity-building and thought leadership in the Asia-Pacific region. CIL is a university-level research centre, with the mission of producing cutting edge research on international law and leading. It is also at the forefront of capacity-building initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region through workshops, conferences, trainings and academic programmes reaching a diverse audience of government and private sector professionals as well as academics. CIL’s main research focus areas are Law and Integration in the Asia-Pacific, Ocean Law and Policy, Investment Law and Policy, and International Dispute Resolution.

CIL invites applications for Post-Doctoral Fellowship positions commencing in Academic Year 2019/20. We seek applications from those with expertise in international economic law or international trade law, international investment law, comparative constitutional law, and law and transnational crime. Applications are particularly sought from those with or interested in developing a research interest in the emerging trade and investment regime in the Asia-Pacific region, notably the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, or the Belt and Road initiative.

The selection committee will consider the following criteria in making appointments:

  • The applicant must be of exceptional caliber, having attained a doctoral degree in a field of international law, completed and examined between 1 January 2015 and 30 April 2017.
  • The principal selection criterion will be the applicant’s potential for excellence in research and his or her proposed programme of research. A proven record of publication and participation in research projects will be the primary evidence of such potential.
