Job Description

Provide short-term individual counseling, group counseling, assessment and referral services, crisis intervention, and consultation, evaluation, and support services to currently enrolled UCF students and in extenuating circumstances, non-enrolled and/or non-students along with other University community members.
Provide training and clinical supervision for center graduate trainees and/or non-licensed staff in accordance with ethical guidelines, state laws, and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) policies and procedures.
Provide outreach programming and workshops on a variety of developmental, preventative, and/or psychological topics.
Provide consultative services to university administrators, faculty, staff, campus organizations, and parents.
Engage in continuing education and professional development activities.
Serve on CAPS, SDES, and University committees and be active in regional, state and national professional organizations.
May initiate and authorize involuntary examination (Baker Act) procedures in accordance with statute 394.463, Florida Mental Health Act.
May perform other clinical or administrative duties under the direction of the Director, Associate Director/s or Assistant Director/s.
May administer and interpret a variety of career and other tests, and prepare reports.
May conduct research and program evaluation to inform clinical practice and center outcome effectiveness.
May serve as coordinator of a specific CAPS programming area (consistent with interests and level of training) or as a designated liaison with specific units or populations on campus as determined by the Director, Associate Director/s, or Assistant Director/s.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have a master’s degree in mental health counseling, psychology, marriage and family, social work, or closely related field and possess and maintain a license as a mental health counselor, social worker or marriage and family therapist in the State of Florida. If not licensed, must be licensable at time of hire and obtain license within 2.5 years from date of hire.

Additional Minimum Requirements
Preferences

Experience in University Counseling Center work is preferred, including initial assessments and brief therapy, crisis intervention, group therapy, supervision and training, outreach and community interventions as well as experience working with collaborative partner’s on-campus.

It is preferred that the candidate be FL licensed or near licensure. Additionally, experience and competency working with Eating Disorders (ED) and Substance Abuse (SA) and working collaboratively as a member of the ED or SA treatment team is needed.

This clinician should be culturally competent in working with various ethnic minorities as well as with sexual orientation and gender identity expression.

Experience and expertise in case/”care” management and in managing complex and high-risk clients as well as in providing crisis intervention.

Experience and expertise in providing a high level of intakes/initial assessments and functioning as a strong generalist with a heavy clinical focus.

Other related specialization such as, but not limited to, hypnosis, trauma informed treatments, telehealth or other treatment certifications.

Posting Summary

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

Job Description

 

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others
