Responsible for accurately preparing and maintaining all payroll records concerning hourly temporary hourly staff and student employees in an ERP HR/Payroll system in accordance with established University policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations. This includes interpreting and analyzing gross pay, tax implications, state retirement implications, and other special issues that arise. Provides guidance to employees concerning payroll issues. |

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions) |
Associate’s degree with 12 semester hours of accounting courses and 3 years of clerical accounting or bookkeeping experience; or high school diploma and 6 years related experience; or equivalent education and experience. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Experience with Oracle’s PeopleSoft HCM application. Previous FLSA training and understanding, including principles of overtime calculations. Knowledge of MicroSoft Office Excel and Word, Access, Database Management, PowerPoint, and experience with payroll accounting principles. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities |
Employee should have working knowledge of payroll accounting, state and federal retirement regulations, and accounts payable in general. Employee should have the ability to proficiently apply mathematical concepts and analyze and interpret related data. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
Department Preferences:
- Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
- Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
- Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
