Job Summary

Seeking a Student Assistant to work with a director with multiple areas of responsibility. Your time will be split in the School of Management (SOM) between projects for the associate director of the Hospitality Management program (HM) and the Director of Professional Edge, a Career Accelerator program launching this year for the SOM Undergraduate program.

Ideal candidate is a creative thinker; sharp with graphic design, familiar with building websites and utilizing social media platforms for marketing and promotion. Must be proficient in collection of data used to update the Annual PIE (Professional Industry Experience) Tracking Report, a progressive history of HM student employment (internship/job placement) and identify employers favorable to hiring students for these opportunities. Candidate will also work on graphic design of and updating “Career Snapshots” of currently trending labor market statistics (by major), including levels of proficiency and compentency required/relevant job skills and skill sets (by major); companies who are hiring, industry job titles, where the jobs are geographically and salary ranges for people meeting those requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
• Organize required student internship/work experience documentation; track, maintain records for the Professional Industry Experience “PIE” Program.
a. Compile data; prepare annual HM Student P.I.E. Tracking Report
b. Prepare PIE Alumni Placement Report.
• Update Canvas sites, tutorials
a. Help create new website for new SOM program (exciting!)
• Help create/design flyers, presentation and marketing materials.
• Assist with coordinating logistics of workshops, events and guest speakers
• Collect real-time strategic job market data using Burning Glass (subscribed to by USF) to generate quarterly reports tracking most in-demand jobs currently trending by field/major, research essential skills sets, software proficiency, suggested scope of internships required for those jobs.
• Research SOM undergraduate majors-related potential employers; help create marketing materials to solicit recruiters to on-campus recruiting activities, provide internships, jobs and general employer engagement.
• Projects: Topics focused in the realm of career research, compiling information, report writing, and as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Necessary Skills
• Computer: Microsoft Office (Excel), successful website development, social media platforms, familiarity with CANVAS, myUSF, Handshake and LinkedIn. (Training available for myUSF and CANVAS).
• Knowledge of/or experience with graphic arts a definite plus (bring examples of your work)!
• Project, research and development skills, big data scraping, report writing
• Solid communication skills: oral, presentation, written, correspondence.
• Some experience/knowledge in event management logistics
• Multiple languages are preferred but not required.
• Cheerful, positive, professional, resourceful, creative; must have a sense of fun!

Posting Summary

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

Job Description

 

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
