Student Sustainability Engagement Coordinator at The Students’ Union at UWE

The Students’ Union at UWE is seeking a Student Sustainability Engagement Coordinator on a full-time basis for a fixed-term of 2 years.
You will be expected operationally co-ordinate the engagement of UWE students in the sustainability agenda, through delivery and development of the UWE Green Team, Sustainability Committee and empowering UWE students to challenge and contribute to the sustainability agenda at the University of the West of England and The Students’ Union.
As well as this, you will be coordinating the student-led sustainability related volunteering projects and supporting students to develop their own sustainability-related projects/community activity.
The position shares with all other staff positions a general purpose to work collectively for the attainment of the goals of the Students’ Union at UWE as expressed in the Constitution, Policy Book, and Strategic Plan and through the decisions of its committees.
The postholder will receive day to day supervision from the Community Manager, but will be expected to work on his/her initiative for routine tasks. Given the nature of the post, occasional weekend and evening work will be required to achieve the desired outcomes.
Rate of Pay: £19,872 per annum.
Holiday Entitlement: 27 days annual leave per year as well as Bank Holidays and Closure days at Christmas and Easter.
Hours per Week: 37 hours per week.
Duration of Role: Fixed term for 2 years.

| Posting Summary | The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. | Minimum Education and Experience | AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II. |

| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
Department Preferences:

- Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
