Masters Scholarships
Master of English and New Media Studies Scholarship
Closing date: 06/07/2018
6 July 2018
Value of Award: Full tuition fees and student levyfor the programme of studyup to a maximum of 180 points
No. of awards: Up to 25 annually
Tenure:
The scholarship is for one year only of consecutive full-time or part-time study.
AUT’s programmes in English and New Media Studies give students the ability to communicate at a high level in a range of oral, written and visual genres and media — vital skills in today’s world.
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage and support postgraduate study in the area of English and New Media Studies. The scholarship is open to domestic students only.

How do students apply?
Scholarship applicants must complete the AUT online Scholarship Application available from the link above from mid-May
Applicants upload:
• A brief CV (no more than two pages)
• Academic transcripts for any tertiary study completed at any institution other than AUT.
• Two testimonials which include reference to the candidate’s background in English and/or new media studies, as well as their general academic performance and potential.

Decision makers
Applicants will be considered by a selection panel from the School of Language and Culture.
No scholarship will be awarded if the panel is of the opinion that there is no applicant of sufficient merit applying for the award.
Selection will be based on academic merit. Consideration will also be given to strategic equity objectives.
Preference will be given to full time students.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
As soon as possible after the closing date.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
The recipient must be accepted into the Master of English and New Media Studies programme.
Domestic students may not hold any other fees scholarship in conjunction with this scholarship.
The recipient may hold additional non-tuition fee based scholarships with approval of the Head of Department and the Scholarships Office.
The scholarship must be taken up in the period 10 July to 31 August 2018.
The scholarship may be terminated at any point should any unfavourable report be received from lecturers regarding grades, or attendance.
Scholars may hold the scholarship and also be employed by the School but the employment arrangement must be managed separately under AUT’s Human Resources policies and processes.

New Zealand Scholarships
Women on Campus Millennium Scholarship
Closing date: 31/03/2018
Apply after the end of January.
Value of Award: $1,000
No. of awards: Multiple scholarships of the same value may be awarded depending on funding.
Tenure:
One year only.
University education is about critical thinking, fresh ideas and new ways of doing things. It is challenging – even demanding – but its benefits are considerable; not only for the students themselves but also for their families, communities and the wider society and economy. That is why AUT provides a wide range of scholarships and awards.
The purpose of these scholarships is to provide recognition to current undergraduate and/or postgraduate women students at AUT who have demonstrated support for women students at AUT.
Selection criteria:
- Applicants must be NZ citizens or permanent residents.
- Scholarship applicants must be women students who have demonstrated support for women who are students at AUT.
- Applicants need to have completed at least one year of study at the University and intend to continue as an AUT student.
- Applicants must be studying .5FTE (half time) or more.

– Academic Transcript if all previous study has not been completed at AUT.
– An 200 word statement (approx. one page) including details of current study and outlining how the applicant would use the scholarship
– A description of the applicant’s activities to support women students at AUT (maximum 2 pages)

– Applicants will be expected to nominate two members of the AUT community who have direct knowledge of their contribution to the support of women students at AUT and request they provide a statement of support.
