| The Center for Career Education (CCE) helps undergraduate, graduate students and alumni develop the key competencies necessary to make informed decisions and take the necessary steps to achieve their career goals. The Center establishes connections and facilitates interaction among students, alumni, employers and organizations to generate opportunities that help students pursue their personal and professional objectives. CCE serves students in Columbia College, The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of General Studies, the School of the Arts, and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and collaborates with the Career Centers in the other schools at Columbia University and its affiliated institutions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working in a team-based environment to provide individual and group career development counseling for graduate students; and to participate in the development and delivery of unit and CCE initiatives. Career development counseling will include designing, organizing and delivering workshops, hosting, moderating and coordinating panel presentations and participating in special programs and events related to career education. Provide individual and group career development counseling to graduate students. Work with the Graduate Student Career Development team to initiate and manage programs designed to meet the career development needs of graduate students. Plan, develop, present and facilitate workshops, panel discussions and site visits on career-related topics. Work within a team environment to assist in the coordination of special events. Act as a liaison to various constituencies and provide reports on activities and program outcomes to the Graduate Student Career Development team and the Dean of the Center for Career Education. Conduct industry and other career related research and develop Columbia relevant online and print resources for use by students, alumni, administrators and faculty. Participate in CCE program planning and assist other counselors/staff with implementation of programming. Perform other related duties as assigned. |
| Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent required. One year of related experience required (counseling experience preferred). |
| Experience with graduate student programs and job search/career choice processes necessary. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with diverse populations. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary. *A resume and cover letter must be submitted with an application to be considered for the position.* |

| Master’s degree in Higher Ed, Counseling or related field preferred. Campus outreach experience preferred. Knowledge of, or background in applied sciences and engineering preferred. Experience working with applied sciences or engineering students preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Dynamics CRM strongly desired. |

Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
Department Preferences:

- Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
