Position Summary

The University of Arizona, College of Public Health is seeking qualified candidates to serve as an Outreach Counselor, Senior for a smoking cessation research study under the direction of Dr. Alicia Allen (Department of Family and Community Medicine) and Dr. Uma Nair (College of Public Health). The Outreach Counselor, Senior will be part of newly funded National Institute of Drug Abuse research study that examines the feasibility of a novel behavioral intervention for smoking cessation in a sample of premenopausal women. Responsibilities include providing a structured and manualized behavioral counseling intervention for the treatment of tobacco dependence. The expectation will also be to follow study procedures, participate in weekly clinical supervision with the PIs, respond to assigned tasks, and meet expectations around fidelity to clinical protocols. Shift hours may change relative to the needs of the study and accrual rates, so flexibility in shift schedules may be expected.

The allocated workspace is located south of main campus. These positions have an end date of 5/31/2019, with a possible extension contingent on funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Working under PI’s direction, follow a structured counseling protocol to deliver evidence-based smoking cessation counseling that incorporates evidence-based skill building such as motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy to study participants.
  • Manage a weekly caseload of 8-10 clients to provide behavioral counseling support.
  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in treating tobacco dependence.
  • Provide accurate clinical documentation for participants on online database software (e.g., RedCap).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Skill in interviewing and counseling clients.
  • Skill in counseling program development.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling or a related field AND two years of counseling experience; OR, Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling or a related field AND three years of counseling experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two years experience working with people in a clinical/ behavioral health settings.
  • Working knowledge of evidence-based models (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy) for working with tobacco dependence treatment.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills-telephone skills.

Posting Summary

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

Job Description

 

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
