Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS) seeks applicants for a scholarship program assistant II responsible for assisting with the administration and coordination of the college scholarship program.

This position supports the director of recruitment and new student programs in the administration of endowed, non-endowed and university accounts representing nearly $3.5 million in scholarships for the benefit of freshmen, currently enrolled, transfer and graduate students. Position will assist with the selection process by reviewing eligibility of candidates for scholarships based on award criteria, organizing data for annual award process, ensuring donor compliance, assisting with communication to scholarship recipients, assisting scholarship committee, monitoring scholarship accounts and interacting with students, parents, donors or financial aid staff on scholarship decisions and fund disbursement. Position will represent CALS on related committees as requested.

The successful candidate will exhibit outstanding written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on superior customer service. The incumbent will exhibit patience and polite attitudes toward the public at all times and understand that the experience on the phone may determine the attitudes of the public. The incumbent will be skilled in utilizing database-driven technologies to enhance relationship building and the customer experience. Ability to multitask and stay focused despite frequent interruptions, and the ability to work as a member of a collaborative environment are key to the position. Attitude for continuous improvement is essential.

Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 5 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.

-Experience working in students services and with the Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) in a higher education setting.

Posting Summary

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

Job Description

 

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others
