JOB SUMMARY:

Immediate Supervisor:  Director

This position provides guidance and assistance to students and parents relating to accounts with the University.  The position is responsible for reviewing student accounts, advising students about account actions needed, and applying information to accounts.  In addition, this position is responsible for reviewing students’ accounts, financial aid, and ensuring refunds are issued to students, parents, and third parties in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews and analyzes student accounts with students and/or parents;
  • Reviews and evaluates credit balance reports, students’ accounts, financial aid, and payments to determine applicable refunds that must be issued to students, parents, or third parties;
  • Coordinates payment plan enrollments; including processing, monitoring and collecting payments;
  • Reviews credit and debit reports;
  • Processes valid refunds for approval based on credit balance report;
  • Updates addresses for issuance of third party refunds;
  • Ensures refunds returned by BankMobile as a “timeout” are reviewed and reissued to student, parent, or third party;
  • Assists with registration and any other event that requires representation from Student Accounts Services;
  • Approves and clears students’ accounts for registration, housing, and graduation after financial obligations have been satisfied;
  • Notes students’ accounts of all conversations and activities;
  • Calls and sends written communications to students and parents as needed;
  • Communicates frequently with other departments to ensure payments, financial aid, charges, and/or credits are accurate and/or valid;
  • Communicates with Student Accounts’ staff and the Office of Financial Aid when adjustments are required to the student’s financial aid awards;
  • Prepares adjustments to charge or credit students’ accounts;
  • Prepares and submits statements/invoices for payment from agencies listed as Third Party billings on students’ accounts;
  • Prepares billing statements when requested by students and/or parents;
  • Assists with processing payments from students and parents that are being made via credit/debit card, check, or money order;
  • Ensures holds are posted on students’ accounts with balances, and removes holds as applicable;
  • Maintains parent and credit balance authorization forms and any other required forms;
  • Assists with mass mailings to students as needed;
  • Required to perform all other duties as assigned by the Director.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum requirement of Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • 1-3 years of related experience preferred.
  • Analytical skills with in depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), and Internet end-user applications.
  • Customer service and motivational experience are essential, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

  • Working environment is a normal business office setting;
  • Demands normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity;
  • Must be mobile throughout the campus;
  • Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there  may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items;

  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

Posting Summary

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

Job Description

 

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others
