Student Ambassadors may be called upon to support the operations of the Office of Admissions as needed.Essential
10Social Media and Internet Presence

Student Ambassadors are expected to be active on Student Ambassador-related social media and are required to maintain a video blog (vlog) to showcase student life at UAF.Essential
20Communication With Prospective Students

Student Ambassadors communicate with prospective students through a variety of media including email, phone, live chat, and written communication. This communication requires a professional, confident, yet relatable communication style while relaying UAF students’ authentic experience.Essential
20Data Entry and Administrative Support

Student Ambassadors will assist Admissions Counselors with data entry and will help Admissions Counselors prepare for recruitment events by putting together campus visit folders and by preparing materials for travel. Student Ambassadors may also be called upon for general administrative support such as copying and filing.Essential
20Event Support

Student Ambassadors participate in a variety of events related to student recruitment and transition. Large-scale events include New Student Orientation and Inside Out. Smaller-scale events include group campus visits and assisting with university outreach activities such as the College of Engineering and Mines’ Engineering Week Open House.Essential
20Student Recruitment and Outreach

Student Ambassadors will assist Admissions Counselors in outreach efforts as well as being the public face of UAF at events that Admissions Counselors cannot always attend. Through a wide range of tasks, Student Ambassadors play an integral role in the recruitment of prospective students.Essential
Student Ambassadors are outstanding students chosen to represent the University of Alaska Fairbanks to prospective students, their parents and family members and other guests. Our team of Student Ambassadors consists of a diverse group of student leaders from a variety of majors with a vast array of interests and involvement on campus. Student Ambassadors play a vital role in student recruitment and transition by sharing their authentic experiences and UAF knowledge through campus tours, high school visits, college fairs, electronic communication, social media, video blogs, and by serving as Orientation Leaders during New Student Orientation and as mentors throughout the academic year.
This recruitment is for the 2018-2019 academic year. Student Ambassadors must commit to serving as an Orientation Leader. New Student Orientation will take place from August 22-25, 2018 with required, in-person training occurring from August 17-21, 2018.

Posting Summary

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

Job Description

 

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others
