Position Summary

Please Note: The number of vacancies has been updated from ‘One’ to ‘Multiple’. As a result, the review date has been extended to 10/16/17. The ideal candidate(s) for the Technical Expert, Sleep Technician position will perform (polysomnographic) sleep studies for Sleep Medicine research studies. Studies may include healthy volunteers, individuals with sleep disorders, or hospitalized patients. The incumbent(s) will need to conduct sleep studies at an offsite University location or make home visits to set-up sleep studies as part of research. During or after the sleep study, it may be necessary to assist with collection of blood or cheek swab samples from other clinical research staff, and process the samples in the research lab.

The candidate(s) needs to possess ingenuity, resourcefulness and adaptability to special and changing needs of research. The selected candidate(s) will work closely with the Investigators, study coordinator and other staff members, to ensure continuous, high quality capture of sleep study data in this study. The ability to work flexible hours, shift work, and weekends is required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise, monitor or coordinate work of subordinates.
  • Maintain and clean sleep study equipment; help manage supply inventory.
  • Retrieve subject blood samples and process them in the research lab.
  • Take appropriate actions during subject emergency situations.
  • Comply with applicable regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
  • Maintain required credentials and certifications.
  • Assist in the scoring sleep/wake stages and related events according to protocol.
  • Assist in the generating of accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
  • Perform administrative functions such as assisting in projecting budgets and procuring laboratory space, supplies and equipment.
  • Create and manage databases for studies which includes setting up database and associated data entry programs and retrieving data from database for purposes of analyses or data review.
  • Assist in the development of written operating procedures and performs quality control checks to ensure procedures are followed.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Four years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
  • At least 1 year experience scoring polysomnograms.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including shift work and weekends.

  • Knowledge of the 10-20 system and polysomnography (sleep studies).
  • Experience with Grass or Alice technologies software.

Posting Summary

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

Job Description

 

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
