Position Summary | Provides customer service, runs campus errands, assists administrative staff, facilities monitoring, performs general administrative tasks, answers and transfers telephone calls, files documents and paperwork. Shift Specifics: 10 – 12 hours per week; flexible with class schedule. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Georgia Southern University is a tobacco and smoke-free campus. All faculty, staff, and students must adhere to the established University System of Georgia policy. |

The Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family is offering a limited number of scholarships to support Master of Sustainability Solutions (MSUS) students who have proposed culminating experience projects designed to address and advance the need for affordable housing, recognizing that healthy sustainable communities provide a means for families to obtain, remain in and manage their homes.
Culminating experience projects may use the tools of research, community engagement, education, and public forums to raise awareness and build capacity to address the needs for quality affordable homes.

Position Summary | Performs various administrative duties including providing support to our Test Proctoring Center and volunteer programs (note taking/mentoring); greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate area; checking in students and others who have scheduled appointments; answering incoming phone calls and routing them to the correct staff member; taking messages as needed; assisting front office staff members with duties such as filing, copying, and faxing documents. Job Summary | Performs basic grounds maintenance work such as mowing—push and riding, edging, weed whipping, seeding prep, leaf and limb removal, pesticide application, fertilizing, and grass seeding. Assists in planting of trees, shrubs, and flowers, including mulching and pruning; and keeps parking lots free of leaves, soil, trash, etc. Performs sidewalk maintenance functions such as edging, removal of trash, grass clippings, limbs, etc.; and operates necessary equipment to remove snow, shovel snow, and apply ice melt. Performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure safety and continued use; and assists in the setup of campus functions This position may work as full-time IU seasonal, 40 hours/week for 12 weeks. |
Required Qualifications | REQUIRED: High school diploma or GED. Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University. Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment and tools involved in the landscaping and maintenance of lawns and formal plantings, including proper equipment operations, pruning techniques, plant identification and the ability to identify unsightly areas. Ability to determine the appropriate tools and equipment needed on the job and use them safely as well as work in a safe and efficient manner. |

Working Conditions / Physical Demands | Physical requirements of this position include ability to: sit, stand, walk, climb ladders, squat/kneel, reach, grasp, push/pull, twist/bend, talk, hear, and see. Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds multiple times per shift. Spends most time outdoors with frequent exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for one hour plus. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration of body or extremities. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, electricity, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin. |
