Financial Aid Counselors in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid work under own initiative with limited supervision and are accountable for evaluating the financial needs of students from a variety of sources including documentation of financial status and personal interviews, and awarding financial aid according to federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinate the processing and administration of financial aid and related documentation for UA students
• Collect and/or analyze financial data on students within federal, state, donor and/or institutional guidelines
• Interact with Federal Systems (i.e., COD, CPS, NSLDS, FAA) and must possess working knowledge of these systems
• Ensure students complete all requirements for disbursements in coordination with the college/department and other external entities
• Read, comprehend, and comply with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies pertaining to the provision of student financial aid
• Evaluate unusual/mitigating circumstance documentation or information provided by the student; exercise judgment by making adjustment or revisions to costs, contribution, need or dependency status based on established policies or guidelines
• Analyze various system generated reports such as grades and enrollment status or award status to verify continued compliance and eligibility of students receiving aid under federal and institutional guidelines; notify students of changes in eligibility of awards and support students towards best possible outcomes
• Interface with students and lenders, employers, donors, guarantee agencies and/or staff to resolve issues
• Provide information regarding Financial Aid policies and procedures, terms and programs to students, parents, faculty and staff via a multi-line phone system, e-mail and in person
• Meet customer needs, offer options, resolve problems and follow up with customers; ensure full customer satisfaction without unnecessarily referring customer to other staff members/departments
• Assist with other office activities such as outreach, reporting and monitoring
• Identify and prioritize problems; perform research, offer solutions, options and strategies. Refer to appropriate person or department as needed, and/or arrange for required support for student
• Use information systems to input data, maintain databases, perform research for projects or issues and generate reports
• Assist manager in hiring and training; and [may] supervise student workers
• Evaluate program effectiveness to develop improved methods
• Participate in all meetings & committees assigned, provide new ideas and support
• Interact effectively as a member of a team and working collaboratively with others
• Assist with staff training as requested
• Assist other areas of the office as requested

Duties Specific to Scholarships Focus Area
• Answer questions, inquiries or requests from students, parents, high school counselors, or guardians on phone, in person or via email regarding scholarship programs and eligibility
• Assist in the preparation of and present information regarding federal financial aid, scholarships, employment and grants for various campus groups, high school students and parents at meetings, group discussions, workshops and recruitment sessions
• Collect and/or analyze data on students to determine scholarship eligibility and make awards within donor and/or institutional guidelines
• Work queries and complete other processes relevant to the eligibility and disbursement of merit/financial aid
• Award scholarships to students and monitor for ongoing eligibility
• Coordinate Scholarship Appeals Process
• Other area specific duties as assigned

• Knowledge of and skill in automated processing.
• Ability to effectively communicate.

Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Humanities or other related field AND two years of experience in financial aid student counseling; OR, six years of experience in financial aid, student counseling or directly related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with processing merit, donor and private scholarships.

Posting Summary

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

Job Description

 

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
