Job Description | At the University of Notre Dame, New Student Engagement focuses on the development, facilitation, and oversight of all orientation programs for entering students (first-year, transfer, graduate, international). We are passionate about creating an inclusive campus community for all new students. We strive to provide resources from day one, that empower students to make the most of their time at Notre Dame and prepare them for successful academic, social, and extra-curricular careers. The fall of 2015 marked the beginning of a new chapter in orientation at Notre Dame, with the launch of Welcome Weekend – the first major revamp of orientation programming at the university in several decades. As we work to continuously assess and strengthen our Welcome Weekend model, there are many new ideas and improvements yet to come. Reporting directly to the Program Director for New Student Engagement within the Division of Student Affairs, these two positions would take primary responsibility for planning and execution of August’s Transfer Welcome Weekend; support for First Year Welcome Weekend programming and planning; oversight of the Welcome Weekend website, mobile app, and social media outreach; and other duties as assigned. |
Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree (4 years). Current higher ed graduate student or post masters only. |
Preferred Qualifications | Applicants should exhibit experience with and/or interest in the field of higher education orientation. Applicants should have a passion for creating inclusive, diverse, and welcoming communities for new students. A positive attitude, hard work ethic, team-oriented demeanor, and creative mind are a must. Ability to work in a fast-paced and professional office for the Vice President of Student Affairs is also required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary to execute coordination with many different departments and leaders across campus. Experience with student programming is a plus. An appreciation for the history of the University of Notre Dame and its mission as a Catholic, Holy Cross educational institution is also preferred. |
Special Instructions to Applicants | The internship will begin on June 11th and end on August 22nd. There is some flexibility on the start date, but the successful candidate must stay until August 21st for Welcome Weekend 2018. |

The Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family is offering a limited number of scholarships to support Master of Sustainability Solutions (MSUS) students who have proposed culminating experience projects designed to address and advance the need for affordable housing, recognizing that healthy sustainable communities provide a means for families to obtain, remain in and manage their homes.
