Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field along with two years of related experience or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling six (6) years may be substituted.
  • One or more years of experience in a customer service related field with ability to react to customers quickly, accurately, and congenially.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data using professional judgment to make independent decisions.
  • Must be able to attend student financial aid, student accounts receivable and registrar functions off campus, and work weekends/evenings as required.
  • Must have excellent public speaking skills and the ability to speak in front of large and small groups.
  • Highly motivated, focused, and results-oriented.
  • Ability to meet expectations in a fast-paced and dynamic, customer-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Student financial aid, registration, and student accounts receivable experience preferred.
  • Ability to think independently, handle stress, multi-task and work with confidential student data.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets (MS Excel), word processing (MS Word), Salesforce or other customer relationship management systems, Google Apps, and student records or financial software (PeopleSoft).

About the Job

This position provides cross-functional services in the areas of enrollment, financial aid, billing and payments.
Duties include: analyzing student accounts and records, answering questions, updating records, providing counseling and resolving complex problems within the One Stop area, with minimal supervisory guidance while maintaining confidentiality and empathy.
Public Contact/Counseling (80%)

  • Counsel, advise, investigate, problem-solve, and resolve questions and issues from current and previous students, parents, faculty, staff, collegiate units, other third parties, and the public.
  • Provide advising to students (& parents) with in-depth financial aid questions concerning FAFSA applications, financial aid eligibility, aid disbursement, cost of attendance figures, different aid types, and estimated family contributions.
  • Counsel students on a variety of issues including records, financial aid, billing, and payment.
  • Follow a structured daily schedule of phone, in-person, and email contact while maintaining flexibility for last minute changes.

Appeals, Waivers and Committees (10%)

Evaluate and complete:

  • Student Service Fee Waiver requests, Repeat a course form
  • Registration forms (e.g. Time conflict, Term overload, Senior registration, Class Additions and Adjustments)
  • Serve on committees including: Student Accounts appeals, financial literacy, financial aid committees, staff training and satisfactory academic progress, advising partners, unit change teams, and records/registration.

Community Outreach and Other Duties as assigned (10%)

  • Present One Stop web demonstrations and orientation presentations to students, parents and other University staff during Orientation programs.

    Posting Summary

    The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience

    AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

    Job Description

     

    The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

    The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
