Supervision Received: Direct supervision from the Director of Student Accounts (Bursar)

Salary: $1,473.34 biweekly
General Statement of Duties:
Responsible for assisting students and parents with tuition and fee bills, applying payments, optional fees and waivers, setting up installment payment plans and processing refunds. Receives and verifies deposits received from other departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
Essential:

  • Provides excellent customer service to students and parents regarding account balances, adjustments, refunds and Westfield State University policies and procedures.
  • Records and maintains credit and debits as they apply to student accounts.
  • Accurately applies payments, charges and waivers.
  • Prepares and balances daily bank deposits and cashiering sessions in Banner AR.
  • Performs various office tasks producing, distributing, receiving, logging and filing correspondence.
  • Receives and balances trust fund deposits.
  • Enters and retrieves data from Banner, Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Requirements:

    Qualifications Required at Hire:

    • Knowledge of the standard procedures and methods followed in handling and recording cash.
    • Ability to perform arithmetical computations with speed and accuracy (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
    • Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, policies and procedures governing assigned unit activities.
    • Ability to work accurately with names, numbers, codes and/or symbols.
    • Ability to understand, apply and explain complex financial policies and procedures.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and to exercise discretion when handling confidential information.
    • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.

    Qualifications Acquired on Job:
    Thorough knowledge of Ellucian’s Banner Software including data entry and understanding of all student forms. Understanding of the interaction between all student service departments. Knowledge of WSU policies and procedures as they apply to students.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    At least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, clerical experience, the major duties of which involved cashiering, bookkeeping, account recording or the direct handling of funds received or paid out, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
    Substitutions:
    A diploma as evidence of graduation from a business or commercial course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*
    A diploma for completion of a one-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business school above the high school level with a major in bookkeeping, accounting or business administration may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.*
    A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business school above the high school level with a major in bookkeeping, accounting or business administration may be substituted for the required experience.*
    An Associate’s or higher degree with a major in accounting, business administration or business management may be substituted for the required experience.*
    *Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

    Additional Information:

    Salary :
    For the majority of new employees, the minimum starting salary will apply. Specific salary for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining and state policies and procedures.

    Posting Summary

    The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. This position is responsible for daily care of the children enrolled in his/her class. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: physical caregiving, following an age appropriate daily plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students. The Classroom Assistant II ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their families and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with NAEYC, NJDHS and child care licensing regulations

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education and Experience

    AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required.

    Job Description

     

    The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) seeks to fill a Student Assistant position to contribute to CIMMS Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) project (http://mping.ou.edu/).

    The principal duties of this position are:

  • Develop technical expertise with the Python/Django RESTful system and the packages and tools used in the mPING project
  • Develop a plan for system improvements and changes to the mPING system with CIMMS personnel
  • Document the project by way of creating appropriate wiki pages
  • Potentially work on creating automated backup and system monitoring tools
  • Potentially make modifications and improvements to the iOS and Android mPING apps
  • Potentially develop new display web tools for research purposes
  •  

     

    Job Requirements

     

    Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the current Fall 2018 Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

    • Must attach Fall 2018 oZONE class schedule.

    Skills:

    • Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
    • Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications

    Department Preferences:

    • Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
    • Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
    • Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
