Job Description | The Resident Assistant (RA) keeps the supervisor informed of activities, problems, and needs of the residents and the community. As an RA, you are charged with the development and creation of a residential environment that promotes and enhances the social, academic and diverse pursuits of our student population. |
Required Qualifications | Enrolled as a degree seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment. Must have a minimum GPA 2.5 and be in good conduct standing with the University. Must have lived on campus for at least one semester* before beginning the position (*on-campus living at another university or military service does qualify). Must not hold any paid position that requires a commitment of more than 9 hours per-week while in the position. Must be able to complete entire length of position, which typically lasts from August to May (May to May for West Lake Village RAs). Must be able to serve as part of the on call rotation from 5:00pm-8:00am at least once a week. Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary. |

Salary Range | $1,100 each semester (typically 2 semesters except when working in West Lake Village – 3 semesters). Each year in the position affords you an addition $100 a semester |
Essential Job Duties | • Coordinates event logistics. • Provides administrative support to the Office of Housing and Residence Life. • Attends weekly one-on-ones, completes weekly reports, and assist with both Eagle Expo events. • Attends weekly area staff meetings and in-services on Mondays from 6-9pm. • Remains in the hall late/or returns early to open during holidays and breaks, as determined by the Resident Director and/or the Office of Housing & Residence Life. • Attends and actively participates in the Fall RA Training and the Spring RA Training. • Participates in all training programs and other events as deemed necessary for purposes of further developing leadership, advising, programming, and administrative skills. • Participates in RA Selection processes (i.e. Informational Sessions, interviews, etc.) • Works three (3) hours a week at the reception desk as part of the RA job. |

Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
Department Preferences:
- Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
- Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
