Prefer a minimum of one year pet sitting or pet ownership experience

Salary:
$8.50/hr. during Training Period
$11.00/hr. upon completion of Training Period, with opportunity for performance-based increases.

Hours per Week

6-26 hours / Week

Approximately 3 hours per evening and 20 hours per weekend

Must be available to work a minimum of two evenings a week (6-9pm)
Must be available to work 2 weekends a month (Friday (6-9pm), Saturday (shifts of 7-9am, 12-3pm and 6-9pm) and Sunday (shifts of 7-9am, 12-3pm and 6-9pm)
Must be available to work mandatory overtime during peak times of year.

Those peak times are:
1. Fayette County Public School’s Spring Break Week
2. Thanksgiving Week
3. Weekend prior to Christmas thru New Years Day

Job Summary

YOU MUST BE A CURRENT UNIVERSITY OF KY STUDENT TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION:

Must have a dependable, reliable vehicle.

Job Description:
Must use positive corrective discipline to redirect pet behaviors, and must demonstrate exceptional pet handling skills.

Must deliver customized services to each home and pet routine, including walking very specific distance and pace, at the request of the each client.

Remove pet waste from outdoors and clean and dispose of pet messes and accidents.
Ensure each pet is getting the appropriate exercise and potty time outside.

Scoop litter-boxes and tidy up the area around litter-box stations.

Feed, water and/or medicate each pet as specifically contracted by each Client, without mistakes.

Complete contracted home duties such as alternating lights and blinds, retrieving mail, watering plants, taking the trash to the curb, etc., as contracted by each Client.

Deliver all contracted services on the Pet Profile to the exact specification of the Client’s request.

Ensure safety of the dogs being walked and those (humans and dogs) around them.

Ability to properly secure and fasten a variety of dog walking apparatus, crates, gates & doors.

Must respect Clients space & privacy and abide by all confidentiality agreements and privacy policies.

Must possess an eye for detail and execute fine detail-oriented tasks set forth by the Client.

Ensure security of Clients home and lockbox or key.

Any other duties or tasks assigned must follow the policies and procedures.

Complete onsite tasks correctly (profile updates, visit set-ups, photos for profile, etc.).

Document information the Client may need to know.

Properly communicate information to our company and to the Client with descriptive notes.

Answer any phone call while working.

Update management with new information discovered onsite, while onsite.

Notify the supervisor or group text if you run into ANYONE onsite.

Complete duties/tasks posted on your Schedule Calendar

This position requires a full 30-day Training Period, in which employee will be trained on all aspects of the job. Employee must prove satisfactory results in on-site job performance, and complete multiple written assessments and training ride-alongs.

Essential Characteristics to Perform the Job:

Must be a problem solver, independent, self-starter & self-motivated with exceptional time management and communication skills.

Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to receive and give constructive criticism without having a meltdown or confrontation.

Must be a team player, reliable, trustworthy, honest, and a person of high integrity.

Must possess the drive and initiative to complete training and tasks without micromanagement.

Must demonstrate a positive attitude and show a compassion and connection with Client pets.

Must secure all pets and houses, and respect Client and pet duties and responsibilities.

Follow training manual and techniques learned in training and adhere to all company procedures and guidelines found.

Physical:
Have the physical ability to walk 3-5 miles per day, at requested pace or distance contracted by Client.

Must have the ability to walk 3 dogs at a time.

Must be able to handle multiple leashes without getting tangled or letting loose of a leash, and handle the leashes of large dogs weighing up to 140 pounds.

Must be able to bend, squat, and maneuver from floor to standing position.

Must be able to climb multiple flights of stairs.

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Must be able to work in all weather elements, including heat and cold, rain, snow, sleet, etc.

Communication/Documentation:
Ability to write clear, accurate, descriptive “Visit Report Card Notes” for Clients.
