Bioengineering Grad Student project facilitator for INVESTING NOW Summer Program
Minimum Requirements and Skills:
• Current University of Pittsburgh Bioengineering graduate student in good standing
• Preferably, experience volunteering and working with high school students
Responsibilities:
• Organize the existing summer program curriculum, lectures, arranges with faculty for students’ lab tours, once weekly facilitates students’ lab exercises in TCSI mobile lab or Chevron lab
• Preferably available all 19 days (July 4 off) from 1:00PM-3:00PM, but may work 10 day schedule shared with other grad students
• Provide a detailed syllabus by June 4 –
previous examples will be provided for reference and planning
• Attend three summer instructor meetings -tentatively May 29 at 5:00 pm, July 9 and 23 at 12:00 PM
• Attend a Summer Kick-Off Meeting for students and parents on Tuesday, June 19 at 6:00 pm in Benedum Hall
• Keep a daily attendance record and provide a written attendance report to the office (duties to your teaching assistant) each day
• Monitor students’ class performance and level of participation
• Submit a written evaluation of each student by July 31
Compensation: Salary for the five-week session (instruction, preparation time and attendance at all meetings)
is $1200 full time; $630/10 day rotation .

Stardust Culminating Experience Scholarship
The Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family is offering a limited number of scholarships to support Master of Sustainability Solutions (MSUS) students who have proposed culminating experience projects designed to address and advance the need for affordable housing, recognizing that healthy sustainable communities provide a means for families to obtain, remain in and manage their homes.
Culminating experience projects may use the tools of research, community engagement, education, and public forums to raise awareness and build capacity to address the needs for quality affordable homes.
