Job Description
The Student Conduct Investigator Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day responsibilities of coordinating and facilitating investigations of alleged violations of the University Student Rules or organizational policies, where undergraduate, graduate, professional and first professional students are the alleged offenders. The Program Coordinator will liaison with the Title IX office, Department of Student Activities, Corps of Cadets and other offices as necessary for investigations. Investigations may require travel by car requiring a valid Driver’s license. The Program Coordinator will coordinate the training of all investigators.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four years of program administration experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Must have a State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience conducting investigations in a sensitive and confidential manner.
- Experience in higher education working with college students in a campus setting.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of complexities surrounding sexual harassment/misconduct, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and related retaliation cases in a college setting.
- Familiarity with campus dynamics, civil rights law, and regulations.
- Understanding of investigation practices.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of University constituents.
Salary Range: 49,000-52,000
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the resolution of student conduct cases and other office initiatives, services, and projects. Tasks include reviewing reports for potential violations of the Student Conduct Code, meeting with students, witnesses, advisors, and other supporters to resolve cases, and assigning appropriate educational sanctions. May serve as a panel chair or student conduct administrator as needed.
- Coordinates the assignments and scheduling of all investigations. Tasks include securing available dates from all student conduct investigators, assigning two investigators for each investigation, and initiating the initial meeting for each investigation. Will liaison with the Title IX Office, Department of Student Activities, Corps of Cadets, and other offices as necessary for investigations.
- Develops investigation plans for each assigned investigation. Identifies and works collaboratively with a trained staff member as a co-investigator and conduct the investigation assigned. Maintains appropriate objectivity throughout the investigation process. Contact involved parties as appropriate, provide information regarding the investigatory process, and conducts interviews. Gathers and secures relevant information through interviews with involved parties and witnesses, and other pertinent documentation. Creates and maintains thorough records and notes of the investigatory process. Provides detailed and unbiased reports of the findings of the investigation to the Dean of Student Life or designee in a timely manner. May conduct investigations in College Station or at branch campuses. Will be required to drive a University vehicle or other motor vehicle to get to investigations.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates training for all student conduct investigators. Serves as a consult for other investigators. Regularly evaluates the investigation process including updating forms, guidelines, and other investigation documents.
- Serves as representative on Department, Division, and University committees and task forces, at events, and to department stakeholders as assigned. Attends and actively engages in Department and Division meetings, trainings, and functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
