Donovan-Johnston Memorial Scholarship
The Donovan-Johnston Memorial Scholarship was established with a bequest from the late Kathleen Mary Johnston.
The scholarship is awarded annually for one or more medical practitioners to enable them to attend education courses conducted by or in association with the Royal College of Surgeons of England; or (b) participate in a clinical attachment to one or more hospitals within the United Kingdom recognised for training towards Fellowship of the Royal college of Surgeons of England.
This scholarship is one of several trust-funded scholarships available through the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences for students who have applied for, or are enrolled in a graduate research degree of the faculty.
Benefits
Up to $50,000. Funds will be shared among multiple applicants.
The scholarship will normally pay for an economy return airfare, tuition, accommodation and living costs for successful applicants.
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- be a medical graduate enrolled in a graduate research degree in the Melbourne Medical School, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and must meet the requirements specified below.

You must apply for this scholarship by submitting an application form. (Link for the application form will be provided when the scholarship is open for applications.)
Selection
Eligible candidates are selected by the Faculty Research Training Committee on the basis of academic merit and the terms of the trust.
Outcome
Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application by Friday 25 August 2017.
More information
It is strongly recommended that students considering applying for this scholarship discuss their proposed studies with the relevant Department of Surgery Head at the Austin, Northern, Royal Melbourne, St Vincent’s and Western Hospitals. Medical graduates planning to be based at the Royal Children’s Hospital or Eye and Ear Hospital should contact Research Development before proceeding with an application.

ANU Master of Philosophy Scholarship »
Overview
ANU Master of Philosophy Scholarships are funded by individual academic Colleges. It is expected that recipients will study on a full-time basis. However, in accordance with strict criteria, the scholarship can be awarded for part-time study. International scholars must undertake study on a full-time basis.
Eligibility
The scholarships are available to potential and current students who:
- are domestic or international students; and
- have applied for admission to a Master of Philosophy Research program at the ANU; and
- have a Bachelor degree with first-class Honours (some Colleges may consider applicants with upper second-class Honours), or a Master degree with a research component from a recognised University.
Benefits
- Travel & removal allowance for students relocating to Canberra to commence their Master of Philosophy program;
- Dependant Child Allowance (International students only)
- Thesis Allowance

No application is necessary as all eligible students will be considered.

In order to be considered for this scholarship in the main round of scholarship offers International students are required to apply for admission by 31 August. Domestic students are required to apply for admission by 31 October. Colleges may consider offering these scholarships at any time of the year..

Overview
A number of ANU Tuition Scholarships are funded and awarded by individual Colleges and determined as part of the application process. This scholarship covers international student tuition fees.
Eligibility
Bachelor degree with first-class or upper second class honours, or a research Master degree from a recognised university; International students.

How to apply
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the relevant Graduate Studies Convener or a prospective supervisor, prior to lodging an application, to discuss the proposed research topic and related matters.
Further information
It is expected that the scholarship normally will be taken up by 31 March in the year for which it is awarded, although, subject to the approval of the prospective supervisor, Head of Department and Dean/Director, a later start date may be possible. The date by which a scholarship must be taken up in a particular instance will be made clear in the formal letter of offer for the scholarship.
