African-American can find many sources of funding to pursue a college education, one of them is scholarships. African-American women who would like to receive scholarships should be aware of time limits for applying.There are numerous scholarships available to Black/African-Americans women such as The Peggy L. Payne, Memorial Scholarship, The Aspiring Literary Scholar Award, AWG Minority Scholarship, Amos & Edith Wallace Scholarship, and APA’s Scholarships are designed to encourage black women or African-Americans to enter professions. The Peggy L. Payne Memorial Scholarship

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is a supporter of higher education pursuits and offers scholarships each year to deserving your women looking to earn a Bachelor’s degree. Scholarship awards range from $1000 to $3500. Graduating from high school and entering a four-year college or university or are a community college student transferring to a four-year college or university and have a minimum GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

The Aspiring Literary Scholar Award

Each year, the GOG Scholarship Committee will grant at least two writing awards. One award is given to an Unpublished Writer and the other award is given to an Aspiring Writer who attends a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Candidate must be a full-time freshman, sophomore or junior student attending a historically Black college or university (HBCU). The 1st place award winner in each category will receive $1,000.

The POISE General Scholarships

To be eligible for POISE General Scholarships, the recipient must reside in Allegheny County and be accepted or currently attend a two year or four-year university, post-secondary technical or trade school. The Wells Fargo Scholarship

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and Wells Fargo are proud to offer financial assistance to outstanding students attending one of the 47 publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) within the TMCF member-school network. The Wells Fargo Scholarship is open to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Selected scholars will receive a one-year merit scholarship of $7,000. Geophysics faculty are interested in applying the tools of seismology to study deep earthquakes, regional tectonics, and earthquake hazards. Prospective students should have a strong quantitative background in geophysics, mathematics, physics, and programming.
