Student Liaison

Position Information

Job Title Student Liaison
Job Description

The Notre Dame Initiative for Global Development (NDIGD), part of Notre Dame’s new Keough School of Global Affairs, is seeking an undergraduate student to build and lead NDIGD Student Ambassador Programs. Initially, the focus of this position will be to start and lead NDIGD’s Student Ambassador Program with CRS (Catholic Relief Services). This is a summer position anticipated to begin in May 2018, with the possibility of extension into the fall and spring semester(s).

The CRS Student Ambassador program seeks to form a national community of students committed to advancing global justice, peace, and human dignity. CRS Student Ambassadors engage their campuses in learning about and acting on global emergencies and injustices through awareness campaigns, prayer services, legislative advocacy, fundraising campaigns, and CRS programs such as CRS Rice Bowl, CRS Fair Trade, and CRS Helping Hands.

The student in this position will serve as the first student ambassador in the Notre Dame CRS Student Ambassador chapter, and will be responsible for the chapter’s management and growth. Principally, the student will fulfill annual requirements for the chapter to maintain its active status. These activities will include recruiting, holding events on campus, and submitting bi-annual State of the Chapter Reports. The student will work with the NDIGD Program Manager to identify, plan, and implement events and campaigns on campus. As the chapter grows, the student will conduct semi-regular meetings with the group of active ambassadors to develop chapter priorities, assign roles, and plan events.

Additionally, the student will represent the University of Notre Dame at the 2018 CRS Student Ambassador Leaders Together (SALT) Summit. The SALT Summit will be held in Baltimore, MD from July 16, 2018 to July 18, 2018.

Finally, the student will also assist NDIGD’s Applied Innovation Division as needed under the guidance of the NDIGD Program Manager and connect the CRS Student Ambassadors (and potentially other students) to assist with the implementation of NDIGD projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and high comfort-level presenting to various groups on campus and at CRS events.
• Must have strong planning and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Must be able to attend the CRS SALT Summit in Baltimore from July 16, 2018 through July 18, 2018. Please note, all travel, food, and lodging accommodations for trips will be covered by NDIGD.
• The ideal candidate will possess a passion for social justice and an interest in raising campus awareness to global emergencies and injustices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Applicants with previous leadership experience in students groups/organizations.
• Applicants with previous experience working on fundraising/advocacy campaigns.
