Job Summary | |
Education, Minimum Training and Experience Required | A Master’s degree from an accredited institution. The candidate must have five years of professional experience in higher education. The candidate should have experience in working with various departments in higher education. The candidate should be knowledgeable of policy and procedures as it relates to student involvement. Experience in counseling and/or mediation. The successful candidate must demonstrate outstanding oral and written communication skills and have a demonstrated record of strong supervisory and leadership skills. The candidate should have outstanding interpersonal and public relation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse community and wide range of constituencies, including the corporate community. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service, time management, communication, and computer skills (Microsoft Office). Knowledge of the Banner Student System is preferred. |
Job Responsibilities | The successful candidate will be expected to: Investigate student complaints received by the President and/or his COO regarding campus policies and procedures as it relates to student involvement, including, but not limited to; areas of: Student Affairs, Finance, Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs, Athletics, and Alumni Affairs. Serve as an information and communication resource, recipient of feedback, advisor, and informal mediator. Communicate with various individuals in an effort to gather information needed for resolving issues and formulating recommendations for corrective action and/or university policy change, update or creation of a new policy. Seek to make recommendations and resolve matters that will have a beneficial outcome for the student and/or the university as well as positively impact public perception of the administration’s timely handling of complaints. Use independent judgment, office protocol and the university organizational chart in directing telephone calls and walk-ins to correct personnel for immediate attention. Compose, edit and type office correspondence. Compile and prepare materials needed for meetings, such as agendas, handouts and binders, etc. Prepare and organize minutes on Office 365 for the President’s Cabinet meetings on behalf of the Chief Operating Office. Prepare reports and other correspondence on behalf of the President and the Chief Operating Officer as directed. Maintain the President’s Official Guest Lists for various events, updating as necessary. Assist in planning and executing various Presidential special events including, but not limited to: Commencement exercises; annual Founder’s Week activities; annual Retirement Dinner; other special Dinners, Receptions, Luncheons and Breakfast Meetings; ticket distribution for the President’s guests at home and away football games, including the Bayou Classic and other football classics. Serve as the President’s Office mail technician, processing incoming mail and distributing it to appropriate staff and other departments as deemed necessary. Maintain a record of office purchase created through the university purchase order procedure. Maintain office supplies and prepare requisitions to purchase supplies by entering required information into an automated system. Assist Office Inventory Specialist with annual inventory count/verification. Perform other administrative and office duties as needed in accordance with university policies, rules and guidelines to ensure the efficient operation of the President’s Office. |

The Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family is offering a limited number of scholarships to support Master of Sustainability Solutions (MSUS) students who have proposed culminating experience projects designed to address and advance the need for affordable housing, recognizing that healthy sustainable communities provide a means for families to obtain, remain in and manage their homes.
Culminating experience projects may use the tools of research, community engagement, education, and public forums to raise awareness and build capacity to address the needs for quality affordable homes.
