Job Summary | YOU MUST BE A CURRENT UNIVERSITY OF KY STUDENT TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION: Immediate Supervisor: Restaurant Supervisor Major Functions: Responsible for prompt, courteous service to all guests eating in the restaurant, as well as the maintenance of the restaurant for breakfast, lunch , and dinner shifts. Essential Functions: 1. Greets and seats guests in alternating sections of the restaurant as quickly as possible, presents them with menus, makes meal suggestions and appropriate wine selections and answers questions regarding meal preparation. 2. Takes order, presents check to the cook, and red line for cocktails. Records all sales using appropriate cash register, and follows all cash handling procedures. Maintains cash bank, guest checks, and processes guest payment according to established procedures. Balances all checks and completes closing paperwork at the end of the shift. 3. Serves order as soon as ready in a professional and pleasant manner. Makes sure proper garnish is on plate before serving. Presents check to guest for payment. 4. Continuously checks on the needs of guests in entire restaurant, bussing tables, and pouring beverages. Responds in a proactive manner to any guest concerns to ensure satisfaction. 5. Is knowledgeable of all menu items, including how they are prepared, and their status for the day. 6. Completes side work to include polishing/rolling silverware, stocking condiments and glasses, sweeping and cleaning as directed by supervisor. Practices “clean as you go” method, and sanitation standards. 7. Reports all tips received on a daily basis and records them on a tip declaration sheet. 8. Ensures alcohol awareness procedures are in place (TIPS) and notifies supervisor of any guest incidents. 9. Assists with room service duties as necessary. 9. Able to carry trays and move items weighing up to 30 pounds. 10. Has a thorough knowledge of emergency and life safety procedures, and follows all key control procedures. 11. Provides the highest quality of service to guests at all times and practices each item on the WHI pledge card. 12. Wears proper uniform and nametag at all times in accordance with the standards of personal appearance guidelines in the WHI handbook. 13. Performs all other duties deemed necessary by management. |
