20-30 hours per week. Typical AM shifts are 10a-4p, PM shifts 4p-9p. Prefer weekend and holiday availability.

Job Summary

Ø Server is a fundamental member of our Front-of-the-House team.

Ø A Server is responsible for welcoming our Guests and serving drinks and food in a courteous and timely manner.

Ø Follows the Sequence of Service to ensure a great Guest experience at each and every table.

Ø Servers will help create an atmosphere of hospitality, ensuring a remarkable experience for our Guests.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

As a Server your job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Ø Greets all Guests within 1 minute with a warm smile, welcoming them

Ø Suggestively sells Ted’s fresh, made from scratch food; describes menu items and daily Feature Items.

Ø Assists Guests in the ordering process by making recommendations.

Ø Up-sells non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

Ø Delivers drinks, food, and dessert in a timely manner.

Ø Enters and processes all food and beverage orders in the Point-of-Sale system.

Ø Communicates with Guests during their entire meal to ensure they are enjoying their dining experience.

Ø Runs food to tables, delivering the food according to pivot point order without “auctioning” it off.

Ø Performs a “Quality Check” within one minute of food delivery to make sure the Guests have everything they need to enjoy the meal.

Ø Pre-busses tables to ensure cleanliness and Guest comfort while dining.

Ø Delivers the check and processes payment promptly.

Ø Wishes the Guest a warm farewell and invites them to return.

Ø Busses and resets tables within one minute of Guest’s departure.

Ø Informs Management immediately of any re-cooks.

Ø Stocks/restocks items according to specifications.

Ø Follows all cleanliness and sanitation procedures including frequent hand-washing.

Ø Notifies a Manager immediately if a Guest is injured or has a complaint.

Ø Completes all side-work as directed.

Ø Practices alcohol awareness and exercises good judgment when serving Guests alcohol to comply with applicable laws.

Ø Follows the check-out procedures and submits all monies owed to the restaurant at the end of the shift.

Ø Follows all Policies and Procedures.

Ø Maintains professional, composed and calm demeanor at all times.

Ø Assists in an entire team effort.

Ø All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Special Skills or knowledge necessary for this position:

Ø Full-Service Restaurant Experience is desired.

Ø Strong communication skills.

Ø Strong interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Ø Organizational skills-Ability to be organized in a changing environment.

Ø Ability to maintain a calm professional demeanor during periods of uncertainty or crisis.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Daily physical requirements and/or number of pounds that may need to be lifted on the job:

Ø Stands during the entire shift.

Ø Reaches, bends, squats and lifts.

Ø Carries plates, lifts glass racks and boxes weighing up to 50 pounds up to 20 times per shift.

Ø Some exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures and humidity.

The Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family is offering a limited number of scholarships to support Master of Sustainability Solutions (MSUS) students who have proposed culminating experience projects designed to address and advance the need for affordable housing, recognizing that healthy sustainable communities provide a means for families to obtain, remain in and manage their homes.

Shift Specifics: 9 hours per week; flexible with class schedule.
