Eligibility & selection criteria
EligibilityTo be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:
- be an Australian citizen
- not hold dual US-Australian citizenship OR U.S. permanent residency (Green Card)
- not have already commenced studies in the U.S.
- be resident in Australia at the time of application – the only exceptions to this rule are for men and women serving overseas in the Armed Forces, or for Australian diplomats posted overseas.
- have completed an undergraduate degree or equivalent at the time of applying
- be prepared to commence your program the following U.S. academic year (between July and the following June – e.g. apply in 2017 to start after July 2018, before end June 2019)
- be prepared to return to Australia for the two years following your program
- not already hold another scholarship for the period / project you plan to undertake on your Fulbright program (this may exclude for tuition fees)
- secure placement with a primary U.S. host institution (please note, this is not a requirement at the time of application for Postgraduate students.)
Fulbright scholarships are open to Postgraduates, Postdoctoral, Professional and Senior Scholars from any field of study.
Selection criteria
Each individual’s application should be about the candidate, how the program time will be spent, and what outcomes can be reasonably expected. What is successful for one applicant may not be effective for another applicant.

Fulbright Scholarship ProgramThe Fulbright Scholarship Program was established in Australia in 1949 as an initiative of the US Senator J. William Fulbright, through a binational treaty between the Australian and United States Governments.
The program provides unique opportunities for Australians to build long term research collaboration and linkages with U.S. universities.
Fulbright Scholarships are awarded by the Australian American Fulbright Commission. The mission of the Australian-American Fulbright Commission is to promote mutual understanding through Education, teaching and training and cultural exchange between Australia and the United States.

ANU Master of Philosophy Scholarship »
Overview
ANU Master of Philosophy Scholarships are funded by individual academic Colleges. It is expected that recipients will study on a full-time basis. However, in accordance with strict criteria, the scholarship can be awarded for part-time study. International scholars must undertake study on a full-time basis.
Eligibility
The scholarships are available to potential and current students who:
- are domestic or international students; and
- have applied for admission to a Master of Philosophy Research program at the ANU; and
- have a Bachelor degree with first-class Honours (some Colleges may consider applicants with upper second-class Honours), or a Master degree with a research component from a recognised University.
Benefits
- Travel & removal allowance for students relocating to Canberra to commence their Master of Philosophy program;
- Dependant Child Allowance (International students only)
- Thesis Allowance
How to apply
No application is necessary as all eligible students will be considered.
Further information
In order to be considered for this scholarship in the main round of scholarship offers International students are required to apply for admission by 31 August. Domestic students are required to apply for admission by 31 October. Colleges may consider offering these scholarships at any time of the year..
It is strongly encouraged to make contact with the relevant Graduate Studies Convener or a prospective supervisor, prior to lodging an application for admission, to discuss the proposed research topic and related matters.

Overview
A number of ANU Tuition Scholarships are funded and awarded by individual Colleges and determined as part of the application process. This scholarship covers international student tuition fees.
Eligibility
Bachelor degree with first-class or upper second class honours, or a research Master degree from a recognised university; International students.
Eligible program: Master of Philosophy
How to apply
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the relevant Graduate Studies Convener or a prospective supervisor, prior to lodging an application, to discuss the proposed research topic and related matters.
Further information
It is expected that the scholarship normally will be taken up by 31 March in the year for which it is awarded, although, subject to the approval of the prospective supervisor, Head of Department and Dean/Director, a later start date may be possible. The date by which a scholarship must be taken up in a particular instance will be made clear in the formal letter of offer for the scholarship.

Eligibility
All students admitted to the Master of Music program at the Australian National University will be automatically considered
Selection basis
- outstanding level of musical ability;
- accomplishment as a pianist or composer; and
- possesses the potential to make an outstanding contribution as a musician.
