IT Solutions Architect (Student Experience)
As IT Solutions Architect you will be responsible for delivering IT solutions on schedule and within budget, to agreed quality standards. This role has overall responsibility for delivering a portfolio of IT solutions in strategic areas such as, but not limited to, `student experience’, `research, knowledge transfer and external collaboration’, and `business improvement’. You will be working in an ITIL aligned organisation. As part of Information Services, you will be joining a team that plays a key part in our wider IT department and within the University.

As IT Solutions Architect, you will be:
- Defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business needs in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Establishing effective relationships across the university and with external stakeholders to ensure that IT projects are delivered successfully.
- Instigating a customer oriented, commitment based culture, with clear measurement and improvements to customer satisfaction, and flexibility to respond to challenging university demands.
- Establishing and coordinating appropriate project teams (including external suppliers) through providing project leadership, vision and direction.
- Undertaking detailed project planning (defining project deliverables, success criteria, dependencies, critical path, milestones, change control), ensuring cost effective long term support, maintenance and licensing costs for IT projects.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining standards, policies, procedures and best practices for project execution and management.
As IT Solutions Architect, you will have:
- A university degree or equivalent preferably in Computer Science or Business Administration.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
- Proven experience of preparing business cases, project initiation documents, planning and successfully delivering IT projects including risk management, issue resolution, contingencies and formalised project progress reporting.
- A solid understanding of the full IT development lifecycle including analysis, design, implementation, delivery and post-implementation support.
- Experience in working with senior management and stakeholders to scope projects, manage customer expectations and support business process change.

Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
Department Preferences:
- Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
- Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
- Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
