Job Summary | SUMMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Knowledge of hotel outlets hours of operation, hotel activities, meeting room locations, management names and offices, and in-house functions. Able to operate POS computer system. Able to enter a food order, change order, prepare the check, make change, bill to credit card or guests room, and reconcile charge sales and cash receipts with total sales to verify accuracy of transactions. Adjusts errors and address guest’s complaints using employee empowerment. Communicate received information to staff and all departments. Use of proper phone etiquette and phone procedures. Effectively utilizes opening/closing checklist. Utilizes proper table greeting, presents menu/nightly specials, can accurately describe menu items, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service using up selling techniques. Knowledge in Alcohol Awareness and requests identification from guest whenever unsure of legal drinking age. Able to offer beverage service to include serving, up selling, presentation, clearing, special requests, proper glassware, garnish, and proper verbiage. Knowledgeable in call and well brand liquors and able to serve using proper presentation. Knowledgeable in various wines, draught, or bottled beers and able to serve using proper presentation. Utilizes proper table etiquette. Understands room set-up, break down, floor plan, china/glass/silver needs, chairs and room cleanliness and location of equipment. Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen utilizing proper carrying/lifting techniques. Able to properly use toaster, bread warmer, coffee/tea/soda/cappuccino machines. Garnishes and decorates dishes, and checks food temperature prior to serving. Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to coordinating when the meal has been completed with the tables needs. Uses proper clearing procedures throughout the meal, replacing utensils when necessary. Properly clears table at conclusion offering dessert, liquor, and coffee service Totals bill and accepts payment or refers method of payment to cashier. Clears and resets tables at conclusion of each course with proper linen, china, glass and silver. Properly checks chairs for cleanliness, table for stability, and carpet for cleanliness. Effectively utilizes restaurant closing procedures checklist. Must be familiar with other restaurant positions and job responsibilities. Able to utilize proper safety procedures and understanding food handling procedures. Completes proper tip reporting sheets and submits to accounting. Must carry/load/unload serve trays. Can accurately set buffet table to include setting, breakdown, diagram, china, glass, silver, linen and tableware. Wipes table and chairs. Restock pars of glasses, china, silver and linen. Sweeps and mops floors and vacuums carpet areas. Cleans and polishes doors and equipment such as coffee urns and cream and milk dispensers. |

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
