Student Services Adviser

This is a fixed term appointment for 9 months.
Student Services provides central support for a range of fundamental student-related activities including programme registration, course selection, exams, results processing, graduation, visa compliance, student counter services, student advice services, and student record maintenance.
The Student Services Adviser will have particular responsibility for the management of (i) advice queries from students, including the generic advice email inbox, (ii) support with Repeat Teaching processes, (iii) providing secretarial support for student related panels and forums, and (iv) managing all General Course processes, including advice to staff on the Course. In general the post holder will ensure that an excellent level of service is maintained across the Student Services Centre, working closely with other colleagues in the Academic Registrar’s Division.
The main duties of the post are the provision of high-level customer service and administrative support to students and staff. This will include working on the Student Services Centre (SSC) counter, providing advice and guidance to students on a wide variety of matters, and assisting them pro-actively with any difficulties or concerns. The post-holder will also manage all General Course processes
Candidates should have the ability to advise students and staff in a clear, knowledgeable and empathic manner; the ability to quickly understand complex information, for example regulatory frameworks, and convey it confidently and effectively to a variety of audiences and the ability to write reports and provide management information.

The Classroom Assistant will support the classrooms serving children from ages 0-3 years and creating and maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for young children. Minimum Education and Experience |
AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II. |

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
