This scholarship was established in 1979 by a bequest from Moira Brooke Moore in memory of her father Dr John Brooke Moore. This Scholarship is available to coursework and research postgraduate surgery students at the Sydney Medical School.
Eligibility:
Eligibility Criteria
1. This Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled in studies in one of the following degrees in the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney.
- Master of Surgery by Coursework
- Master of Surgery by Research
- Master of Philosophy, or
- Doctor of Philosophy.
2. Applicants enrolling in postgraduate research degrees must conduct research into surgery.
3. Applicants must be a graduate of the Sydney Medical School, at the University of Sydney.
4. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent resident or New Zealand citizen.
Selection Criteria
1. The Scholarship will be awarded to a postgraduate coursework student on the basis of:
- the applicant displaying an aptitude for surgery and a likelihood of devoting themselves to the learning of surgery and the furthering of knowledge in that subject.
2. The Scholarship will be awarded to a postgraduate research student on the basis of:
- academic merit,
- area of study or research proposal
- previous research experience, and
- the applicant displaying an aptitude for surgery and a likelihood of devoting themselves to the learning of surgery and the furthering of knowledge in that subject.
3. Preference will be given to full-time applicants.
4. The successful applicant will be awarded the Scholarship by the Dean of the Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney, and the Professor of Surgery, Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney.
Amount awarded:
For Postgraduate Coursework Students: The Scholarship is valued at $25,000 per annum and is tenable for one year only.
For Postgraduate Research Students: A successful full time recipient of this Scholarship will be provided with an annual stipend allowance of $40,000 per annum for up to one year, subject to satisfactory academic performance.
A successful Research Masters recipient may be eligible for an extension for up to one year pending the availability of funds.
A successful Research PhD recipient may be eligible for an extension for up to two years pending the availability of funds.
A successful part-time recipient will be provided with a stipend allowance determined by the selection committee.

ANU Master of Philosophy Scholarship »
Overview
ANU Master of Philosophy Scholarships are funded by individual academic Colleges. It is expected that recipients will study on a full-time basis. However, in accordance with strict criteria, the scholarship can be awarded for part-time study. International scholars must undertake study on a full-time basis.
Eligibility
The scholarships are available to potential and current students who:
- are domestic or international students; and
- have applied for admission to a Master of Philosophy Research program at the ANU; and
- have a Bachelor degree with first-class Honours (some Colleges may consider applicants with upper second-class Honours), or a Master degree with a research component from a recognised University.
Benefits
- Travel & removal allowance for students relocating to Canberra to commence their Master of Philosophy program;
- Dependant Child Allowance (International students only)
- Thesis Allowance

No application is necessary as all eligible students will be considered.
Further information
In order to be considered for this scholarship in the main round of scholarship offers International students are required to apply for admission by 31 August. Domestic students are required to apply for admission by 31 October. Colleges may consider offering these scholarships at any time of the year..

Overview
A number of ANU Tuition Scholarships are funded and awarded by individual Colleges and determined as part of the application process. This scholarship covers international student tuition fees.
Eligibility
Bachelor degree with first-class or upper second class honours, or a research Master degree from a recognised university; International students.
Eligible program: Master of Philosophy
How to apply
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the relevant Graduate Studies Convener or a prospective supervisor, prior to lodging an application, to discuss the proposed research topic and related matters.
Further information
It is expected that the scholarship normally will be taken up by 31 March in the year for which it is awarded, although, subject to the approval of the prospective supervisor, Head of Department and Dean/Director, a later start date may be possible. The date by which a scholarship must be taken up in a particular instance will be made clear in the formal letter of offer for the scholarship.
