    Job Summary

    PEAK is seeking enthusiastic students to staff the U-Bar located within the Hope Fox Eccles Health Library at University Hospital. The U-Bar is a technical support station where patients, family members, and health care professionals can learn about quality mobile health apps, wearables, and other wireless devices. Visitors can sample U of U Health-curated mobile technologies on demo tablets, personal smart phones, and wearables. Trained students help visitors browse the vetted apps, assist in connecting patients to devices and apps prescribed by their providers, and provide instruction on how to use the apps or wearables to improve health.

    Responsibilities

    • Actively engages with and welcomes all visitors to the U-Bar and Health Library
    • Answers in-person and virtual questions pertaining to apps and devices
    • Assists visitors with locating authoritative online consumer health information when the librarian is not present
    • Assists visitors with Health Library computer use, copying, faxing, and printing
    • Assists with special projects
    • Produce health-related content

    Minimum Qualifications
    Preferences

    • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Utah
    • Outgoing and engaging personality
    • Exceptional customer service skills
    • Strong people skills with an ability to problem solve
    • Reliable
    • Strong interest in mobile technology and/or health and wellness
    • Aptitude for acquiring technical skills with iOS and Android mobile applications and an eagerness to learn
    • Aptitude for database searching

    The Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family is offering a limited number of scholarships to support Master of Sustainability Solutions (MSUS) students who have proposed culminating experience projects designed to address and advance the need for affordable housing, recognizing that healthy sustainable communities provide a means for families to obtain, remain in and manage their homes.

    Culminating experience projects may use the tools of research, community engagement, education, and public forums to raise awareness and build capacity to address the needs for quality affordable homes.

    Shift Specifics: 9 hours per week; flexible with class schedule.
