The University of Hull and Hull City Tigers AFC 1st Team are inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for an exciting and innovative part-time MSc studentship and internship opportunity. The MSc studentship will follow an ‘embedded scientist’ approach, which allows researchers to understand the day-to-day performance questions that need answering using a scientific approach. This collaborative model will be the basis for the research scholarship described below.
MSc Studentship C: Understanding the transfer between training and match play in professional football: Does the way we train translate to the match?
Alongside the research undertaken for a MSc, the student will gain experience of working within a professional football environment. The tasks undertaken by the student will include:
- Support the general daily running of the Sport Science and Medicine department to ensure coaching staff and players are provided with an excellent level of service.
- Attend all first team meetings when required/appropriate.
- Work closely with support staff to help ensure all Sport Science & Medicine aspects of player reviews are completed to the relevant standard.
- Attend and deliver (when appropriate and based on expertise) CPD sessions as and when required by senior club staff.

How to Apply
This studentship will start on 14 January 2019.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will have a 1st or 2.1 undergraduate degree in sport and exercise science, sport coaching, or related discipline. Experience working in a sport science or strength and conditioning capacity is desirable. In addition, a willingness to work toward accreditation (such as BASES or UKSCA) is desirable.

Part-time UK/EU studentships include fees at the ‘home/EU’ student rate and maintenance (£14,777 in 2018/19) over two years, plus consumable allowance of £500 depending on satisfactory progress. MSc students at the University of Hull follow modules for research and transferable skills development and gain a Diploma, in Research Training, in addition to their research degree.

Minimum Education and Experience |
AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II. |

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |
