Our Student and Academic Services Division is pleased to be advertising for a Student Skill Adviser to join their Student Success Team on a fixed term basis. In this role, you will partner with departments to better integrate opportunities to develop the skills and experience students need to gain professional level employment or study. Taking your lead from the Career Development Service you will identify and deliver changes that have a measurable impact on the engagement and outcomes of student groups at risk of unemployment and under-employment. Alongside this, as part of your broader responsibilities to the team, you will also line manage a Student Support Advisor, a role that supports the wellbeing and retention of our students.
To be considered for this excellent role, you will have an Honours Degree (or equivalent) plus experience as a careers adviser, or relevant experience within teaching, graduate recruitment, recruitment, training and development, human resources/personnel or other relevant advisory work. To be successful in this role you will have experience of building sound relationships and pro-actively managing and engaging with multiple stakeholders in a business partnering like capacity. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
Department Preferences:
- Optional experience with mobile app development on Android and/or iOS is a plus
- Experience debugging and/or trouble shooting software and hardware issues
- Experience working with complex software applications and web-based communications
