The University Library at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of 12-month Senior Assistant Librarian (Student Success) with the appointment starting in Spring 2019.

The CSUDH University Library fosters student success, scholarly research, and academic excellence through provision of user-centered services, collaborations, and learning experiences. The services of the University Library are housed in a 140,000 square foot, five story, energy-efficient addition completed in 2010. The library is home to two 33-capacity instructional labs, 100+ computers, 11 group study rooms, a Technology Checkout Program, multiple quiet study and collaborative spaces, and informal lounge areas interspersed throughout the building and a café. It has emerged as CSUDH students’ “Academic Home away from Home.” CSUDH students study in a stunningly beautiful library that contains multicultural artwork reflecting the ethnic and cultural diversity of the campus, the community and the Southern California area. The library houses two art galleries, one space of which is shared with the Faculty Development Center, and the Archives and Special Collections Department.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution or an appropriate equivalent.
• Demonstrated knowledge of trends, methods and best practices in undergraduate student engagement and success.
• Ability to effectively participate in the library’s liaison program in the areas of research consultation, instruction, collection development and management, and outreach.
• Leadership ability, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to continuous learning.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and multiple tasks, while meeting deadlines and solving
Problems in a rapidly changing environment.
• A positive attitude, excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
• Demonstrated potential to achieve tenure through effective job performance and scholarly and service activities.
• Experience working with people from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic
Preferred /Desired Qualifications
• Experience designing and implementing library programming such as orientation events
• Demonstrated experience with information literacy instruction, including the development of student learning outcomes and lesson plans- Demonstrated success in outreach and cultivating successful relationships with diverse campus stakeholders to promote library initiatives.
• Demonstrated skills in designing promotional materials.
Employment Requirement – Background Check
