Post-doctoral Position in Strategic Management / Circular Economy

Call for applications – opening of a post-doctoral position in Strategic Management / Circular Economy

Circular economy transition: organizations, ecosystems and institutions

The ESCP Europe-Deloitte Chair on “Circular Economy and Sustainable Business Models” is opening a renewable 12-month Post-Doc position, focusing on the analysis of business models and intra- or inter-organisational relationships in the circular economy.

The circular economy is a new economic model that aims to decouple economic development from consumption and exploitation of natural resources.

Within the ESCP Europe research team, the candidate will explore how circular economy may be achieved through new cooperation mechanisms, by exploring one of the two levels of analysis:

  • organizational level: how to align CE principles with the strategic model of the company? How do key functions (design /marketing / purchasing, etc.) interact to implement circular economy business models?
  • inter-organisational level: the systemic nature of the circular economy requires rethinking coordination and interaction mechanisms among a high variety of stakeholders (companies, regulators, NGOs, civil society, academics). How do leading organizations emerge to reshape relationships in a business ecosystem?

The candidate will:

  • Participate in the activities of the Chair: organization of thematic conferences and writing of dissemination articles
  • Conduct empirical / theoretical research in collaboration with ESCP Europe researchers
  • Publish academic articles
  • Be offered the possibility to participate in educational projects related to the circular economy
  • Qualities: autonomy, entrepreneurial spirit, taste for the field and collaborative work, scientific potential (ongoing or completed publications)

    Language: French & English

    Location: Paris

    Salary: about 40.000 euros/year

The position is to be filled in January 2019.
