Grade 3 c.£18,263 (pro rata)
This is a fixed term position for 6 months from start date. Full time (35 hours per week) and will be based at Swansea University’s Singleton Park Campus.
Main Purpose of the Post
The University will be attending events around the UK from September 2018 to February 2019, meeting potential applicants (sixth formers and college students) for 2019 and 2020 entry, at Higher Education Conventions. These events involve staffing the Swansea University stand, discussing the University’s courses and facilities, the local Swansea environment and student life; distributing University literature; logging enquirer details and encouraging enquirers to find out more about the University and come to Open Days.
The UK Student Recruitment Office is looking for a recent graduate with experience of being a Swansea University undergraduate student, who possesses excellent communication skills, enjoys meeting people, would positively enjoy representing the university at these events. When not “on the road” the post holder will be asked to provide assistance with other Student Recruitment work on our campuses (ranging from clerical duties to assistance moving marketing materials from our stores.
The post holder will be joining (and frequently work with) a busy, friendly team of recruiters in the UK Student Recruitment Office, and work also with recruiters and marketers from across the full range of University subject areas. The job also sees the post holders meeting their counterparts from other universities on a regular basis at events all around the UK, making it a friendly and sociable experience.
Previous post holders have used this experience to go onto permanent work in: Public Relations, Teaching English as a Foreign language (e.g. Georgia and South Korea), the RAF (Officer), graduate traineeships in finance and engineering, secondary school teaching and Student Recruitment/Admissions/related other university administration roles around the UK.

Qualification:
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent from, and experience of student life at, Swansea University
Experience:
- Experience of the Swansea University undergraduate life
- Ability to travel to multiple locations with own transport (involves use of multiple unfamiliar cars and driving in a wide range of urban/ rural environments)
- Demonstrate being reliable and trustworthy, able to work without supervision when required
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels
- Excellent IT skills, including fluency in all Microsoft Office Packages (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and in particular Outlook)
- Attention to detail and the ability to work accurately, at speed and within tight deadlines
- Evidence of excellent time management and organisational skills, clearly demonstrating the ability to plan and prioritise tasks
- The ability to take appropriate responsibility, work independently and to be relied upon as a strong member of a busy team

Background
Events vary in size from 500 to 10,000 visitors, from school halls to exhibition centres and can last from half a day to three days, around the UK (mainly England and Wales).
The post can involve being away from Swansea for days at a time, over a number of weeks. It sometimes necessitates early morning starts and evening finishes, and some weekend travel/work.

Minimum Education and Experience |
AA degree, preferably in the field of Early Childhood Education of Child Development from an accredited public or private institution of higher education. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Preschool Caregivers required or an equivalent credential that addresses comparable competencies; or must obtain the credential within one year of employment as a Classroom Assistant II. |

Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with very young children. Ability to work as part of a multi-program/disciplinary team in providing a variety of services to children and families. Experience working with children from low income families. Valid First Aid/CPR card, food handler’s card, negative TB test, and clear criminal background check required. |

Skills:
- Strong computer programming skills with particular emphasis on Python and PostgreSQL
- Strong familiarity with the UNIX/Linux operating environment and web services such as Nginx, Django and RESTful web applications
